As part of their commitment to showing love and care towards the elderly, women from Chimwankhunda Living Waters Church in Blantyre hosted 200 senior citizens for a luncheon at their church.
Speaking at the event, Bishop Funny Mateyu emphasised the importance of ending discrimination against the elderly, underscoring their invaluable contributions to society.
Bishop Mateyu also noted that, as Christians, they are guided by the Holy Bible to care for vulnerable members of the community, including widows and the elderly.
Chairlady of the church’s women’s group, Pastor Lydia Banda, stated that they will continue to support the elderly, believing that social interaction and connection can help prevent the loneliness and isolation often associated with old age.
Following the luncheon, the church donated assorted food items to the elderly, including maize flour, sugar, cooking oil, and rice, worth K6 million.
