Four Malawian reggae and dancehall artists are set to perform in Jamaica’s Reggae Month in February 2025 following Minister of Labour, Vitumbiko Mumba’s, personal initiative to strengthen artistic ties between Malawi and Jamaica.
The artists are Annie Matumbi (Nyakwawa), Born Afrikan, Don Tarz, and Blasto.
They are expected to perform on February 12 in Montego Bay and February 16 in Ocho Rios alongside some of Jamaica’s most celebrated reggae icons.
Mumba expressed confidence that this opportunity will open doors for Malawian artists on the international stage.
Annie Matumbi stressed that the initiative will foster global collaborations.
A couple of weeks ago, the minister together with Matumbi and Born Afrikan attended Buju Banton’s “Intimate Concert” at Plantation Cove in Jamaica where they also explored potential collaborations between Malawian and Jamaican artists.
