NOCMA optimistic of continued stable fuel supply

National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) says more tankers carrying fuel from Tanga Port in Tanzania will soon be in the country.

In a statement, NOCMA affirms that the commodity, which was imported through a Government-to-Government (G2G) arrangement, has greatly contributed to the recent fuel stability.

The operation commenced on January 4, 2025 after the the arrival of the vessel Mount High Freedom on December 29, 2024, which carried 51.5 million litres of petroleum products.

NOCMA believes it is now better prepared to handle with speed any future fuel imports from vessels after drawing lessons from some of the logistical challenges encountered.

It further says Malawi is finalising other finer details and processes of the G2G arrangement, which has been described as a game changer that will help ensure steady and sustainable fuel supplies across the country.
