FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers have dominated Calisto Pasuwa’s 28-man squad for the Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Malawi, currently fourth in Group H with 6 points, will face second-placed Namibia (8 points) on 20 March 2025 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
Four days later, the Flames will take on group leaders Tunisia (10 points) at Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Tunis.
Pasuwa, the former Bullets coach, has included eight players he previously managed, these include:
Goalkeeper Richard Chimbamba, defender Alick Lungu, midfielders Yankho Singo, Lloyd Aaron, Chawanangwa Gumbo, Chikumbutso Salima, Wongani Lungu, and striker Ephraim Kondowe.
For Silver Strikers, Pasuwa—assisted by current Bullets coach and former Silver Strikers coach Peter Mponda—has called up six players from the Lilongwe-based side: Goalkeeper George Chikooka, defenders McDonald Lameck, Nickson Mwase, Maxwell Paipi, and Precious Sambani, as well as midfielder Zebron Kalima.
Only Gaddie Chirwa and Wisdom Mpinganjira from Mighty Wanderers have made it in the squad for the locally based players.
The Flames’ technical team has also named 11 foreign-based players, including goalkeeper William Thole and defenders Gomezgani Chirwa and Nickson Nyasulu.
The squad features Mozambique-based duo Richard Mbulu and Lloyd Njaliwa, South Africa-based striker Gabadinho Mhango, and defender Denis Chembezi of Iraq’s Al-Qasim SC.
Additionally, Romanian-based defender Charles Petro, DRC-based duo Lanjesi Nkhoma and Patrick Mwaungulu, as well as Zambia-based striker Chawanangwa Kaonga, have been called up.
