President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has commended the role that the church plays in promoting good governance in Malawi.
Presidential Advisor on Religious Affairs Reverend Brian Kamwendo disclosed this after the president met the leadership of Nkhoma Synod at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
Reverend Kamwendo said the president commended the church calling it a key partner in the national development.
He said Dr Chakwera has been at the forefront of making sure religious leaders play a vital role in promoting good governance and he also described the church as key to the social economic development of Malawi.
The advisor also said the President urged the faith leaders to ensure smooth conduct of the forthcoming elections and ensured the CCAP Nkhoma Synod Church that his leadership serves the nation with dedication.
Moderator for the CCAP Nkhoma Synod, Reverend Edward Kalukuma, said apart from wishing the President well in the New Year, the Church pledged to continue praying for the country to have good rains and avert disasters as the Chakwera-led administration strives to improve people’s lives.
