Man arrested in Neno for possession of coffins

Police in Neno District have arrested Christopher Manyika, 42, for allegedly possessing two coffins alongside a friend, Henry Kapakasa, who is at large.

According to Neno Police publicist, Rebecca Msoliza, police were tipped that Manyika and his friend had allegedly been engaging in ‘ritualistic’ practices for two consecutive nights at Bwalo la Ndege ground at Chifenthe Village.

She said Manyika was arrested at the scene while Kapakasa managed to escape, leaving his coffin behind.

The publicist said Manyika revealed during questioning that they were acting under the instructions of a herbalist, who had promised that the coffins would transform into vehicles.

Manyika is from Zomodya Village, Traditional Authority Mlauli in Neno District and will answer a case of conduct likely caused breach of peace.
