First Lady Madame Monica Chakwera will preside over the International Women’s Day commemoration at Jenda Community Secondary School ground in Mzimba District.
The International Womens day falls on 8 March every year and it was set aside to promote gender equality and deal with stereotypes and discrimination towards women among others.
This year’s commemoration will be held under the theme, “Invest in women and accelerate progress.”
The theme is focusing on addressing economic challenges women face by promoting inclusion.
Among other notable dignitaries expected to attend the commemoration are Inkosi ya Makosi M’mbelwa V, UN Resident Coordinator Rebecca Adah Donto and the Minister of Gender, Jean Sendeza.
