The Director of Teacher Education and Development, Zizwa Msukuma, believes that the School Leadership Programme (SLP) can improve the overall performance of students across the country.
Msukuma was speaking in Mponela when the Ministry of Education initiated training for the 15th batch of the programme.
He said the government is committed to providing training opportunities since the programme is drilling school officials with skills and knowledge to reshape the country’s education sector.
Headteacher at Chisamba CDSS, Stophen Chambwinja, said the training sessions empower school leaders to become effective leaders, inspiring others and using acquired skills to improve students’ performance.
SLP is a component of the Malawi Education Programme (MERP) whose aim is to train about 10,200 school leaders for primary schools in Malawi.
