Artists in the country under the banner Musicians Rights Forum have come together to fight for their rights, with an aim of addressing several challenges which they say have been hindering their work bordering on rights and welfare.
The forum’s vice chaiperson, Stanley Nyandolo’ Mnthenga encouraged artists in the country to join the forum, which he says will grant a platform that will help them to learn and unlearn behaviours and attributes to their benefit.
On his part, Humphrey Mpondaminga, Director of Art in the Ministry Local Government and Art, said the forum will compliment the government’s agenda of helping artists turn their work into employment.
One of the participants at the meeting, Thocco Katimba, encouraged fellow artists to subscribe to the group, saying it is important for their growth and welfare.
Among other things, the organisation is expected to promote rights of musicians by
raising music standards through facilitating training of musicians in partnerships with local and international societies.
