Maranatha Academy rewards MSCE top achievers

Maranatha Academy, one of the top ten private schools in this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) results, has made good on its promise to reward excellence, though with a change of destination. Instead of the earlier-announced trip to Victoria Falls, top-performing students have been taken to Sun and Sand Holiday Resort in Mangochi for a celebratory retreat running from today until Sunday.

Earlier Maranatha Academy spoiled the best performing candidates with a retreat at Game Haven safari site in Thyolo.

The adjustment follows logistical challenges,  which made it impossible to facilitate the trip outside the country. Despite this, Maranatha has ensured that the recognition remains both meaningful and inspiring.

Managing Director of Maranatha Private Schools, Ernest Kaonga, reaffirmed the school’s commitment to celebrating academic success:

Cloud nine, one of the top students beam with excitement

“As you know, our first choice was Victoria Falls. However, with  other challenges this has not been possible at present. But we believe in excellence and delivering results, so we have organised this trip to Sun and Sand, coupled with a cash reward, to show our appreciation to these young stars,” he said.

In addition to the weekend retreat, each top achiever has received K1 million as a personal reward, a gesture that parents and students have described as both generous and motivating.

Nationally, the 2025 MSCE results saw 113,708 candidates pass out of 194,584 who sat, representing a 58.44% pass rate. Maranatha once again stood out as one of the best performers, with students scoring between six and eight points.
