The Central Malawi Conference (CMC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church has emphasised the need for clear, strategic and impactful gospel communication during its 2026 Communicators’ Conference held in Lilongwe.
Speaking during the conference, President of the CMC, Pastor John Phiri, reiterated the importance of communication as a tool for making the church’s message accessible to all.
“We have brought communicators together, to equip them so that they are able to communicate the gospel clearly,” said Pastor Phiri.
He acknowledged that although the conference has adequate human resource, limited access to modern communication equipment remains a significant challenge.
Director of Communication for the Conference, Smartha Hoka, said the training was designed to align church communicators with the strategic direction of the Seventh-day Adventist Church while strengthening their professional skills.
“We want to equip them with knowledge as well as skills, so that they can write stories that touch hearts and preach the gospel with clarity. At the end of the message, lost souls must be saved,” said Hoka.
She further disclosed that the Conference is exploring plans to establish community and regional radio stations in districts such as Dowa and Ntchisi to enhance outreach, but noted that financial and equipment constraints remain key obstacles.
One of the participants, Lily Kampani from Area 3 Seventh-day Adventist Church, described the conference as transformative, particularly in the area of digital evangelism.
“We have gained valuable knowledge, especially on digital evangelism and the use of artificial intelligence. If we apply these skills, we will be able to reach more people and improve how we communicate the gospel,” said Kampani.
Organisers indicated that follow-up mini-seminars will be conducted across various zones to monitor implementation and ensure that the knowledge gained translates into practical impact.
The three-day conference concluded with participants receiving certificates of attendance.
