Defence Minister Feston Kaupa, says Malawi’s participation in the 8th International Aeronautics and Defence Exhibition, Marrakech Airshow 2026, presents an opportunity for the country to learn about modern defence technologies and explore areas of cooperation with other countries.
Kaupa, who is representing President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika at the exhibition in Marrakech, Morocco, says the event provides a platform for engaging international defence and security stakeholders, while exploring opportunities to strengthen defence capabilities through technological advancement and international partnerships.
Held from 7 to 10 October 2026 at the Royal Moroccan Air Force Base in Marrakech, the exhibition has attracted nearly 200 exhibitors from 27 countries, including leading aerospace and defence companies.
The event showcases technological innovations and promotes collaboration in the aerospace and defence industries.
According to the Minister, a major highlight of the exhibition is the growing role of technology in modern warfare and national security where Companies showcased advance systems, including drones, missile systems and other defence equipment.
During his visit, Kaupa also held a meeting with Abdeltif Loudyi, Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the Administration of National Defence.
The Moroccan Government reiterated its commitment to providing technical support to Malawi in areas including cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco is also in attendance, along with other foreign dignitaries.
Malawi’s participation underscores the interest in strengthening international defence relations and learning from global technological developments.
