A total of 9,226 students have been selected to the six public universities in the country, out of the 19,250 applicants who submitted their applications to National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mangani Katundu, has confirmed in a statement.
He says out of the 19,250 applicants, only 17,907 were eligible.
On the other hand, the ministry has selected 1,896 students to Domasi and Nalikule colleges of education.
This brings the total number of students selected to public universities and the two colleges of education to 11,122, representing 10.4% increase from last year’s combined figure of 10,072.
