New CDF dashboard to boost transparency in councils

Reformed Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Dashboard is expected to enhance public access to information on development projects by enabling communities to track project implementation through a digital platform.

Karonga District Commissioner, Willard Mwambo, has said the platform will promote open governance and citizen participation by allowing people from areas such as Maghemo, Lupembe and Nthalire to monitor CDF projects at their fingertips.

He made the remarks during the opening of a training on the dashboard for Karonga District Council, Karonga Town Council and Chitipa District Council on Tuesday in Karonga District.

Mwambo said the digital innovation will strengthen transparency and accountability in local authorities.

He also urged responsible officers to regularly upload accurate CDF project information and other relevant development activities to build public and donor confidence in the utilisation of funds.

National Local Government Finance Committee ICT Officer, Erasmus Chikupira, said uploading project information should begin at constituency level to ensure that communities have access to information about projects in their areas.

Meanwhile, Acting Chief Executive Officer for Karonga Town Council, Charles Lomoni, said the dashboard would improve information sharing between councils and citizens.

He added that the training would equip officers with the skills to effectively use the platform and ensure that development information is readily accessible to the public.
