The Independent Schools Association of Malawi (ISAMA) has urged private schools to improve the quality of education through teacher motivation, learner inspiration and the adoption of best practices.
ISAMA President Wycliffe Chimwendo says schools need to engage stakeholders, share successful approaches and learn from good practices both within and outside the country.
Chimwendo made the remarks in Salima during an engagement with private school directors under ISAMA’s Central West Education Division (CWED).
“As ISAMA, we always follow government procedures to ensure that we maintain high standards in the education sector,” Chimwendo explained.
CWED Chairperson Huxley Kamkwamba expressed concern over some private schools that are underperforming due to a lack of resources, which affects service delivery.
He pledged continued engagement with private school authorities to address the various challenges facing the institutions.
Kamkwamba also said the division had engaged financial institutions, including FINCA and Opportunity International, to support schools with financial and other resources.
During the event, FINCA and the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) engaged school directors on financial management and tax compliance, respectively.
