The Private Schools Association of Malawi (PRISAM) says this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations have started on a positive note, attributing the smooth administration to improved preparations by the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB).
PRISAM President Ernest Kaonga said feedback from member schools indicates that the first day of the examinations was conducted without disruptions, marking a notable departure from challenges experienced in previous years.
According to Kaonga, earlier examination sessions were often affected by delays in the release of examination centre funds, late distribution of candidate identification cards, slow payments for invigilators, and incidents of examination leakages.
“This year, MANEB released centre funds on time, issued candidate IDs before the examinations began, and has so far recorded no cases of examination leakages, enabling schools to administer the examinations efficiently,” said Kaonga.
Kaonga added that the timely release of centre funds is particularly important for private schools, which use the money to purchase materials for practical subjects such as Chemistry and Biology because they do not have access to government mobile laboratory facilities.
