Police assures of security after DMI robbery

The Malawi Police Service says it will beef up security in higher learning institutions in light of the armed robbery at DMI Saint John University in Lilongwe.

Deputy Police publicist, Alfred Chimthere, has said this after Police arrested two suspects, Jeffrey Ribson, 22 and Richard Gomani, 27, in connection with the crime.

According to Lumbadzi Police Station publicist, Felix Kwinyani, approximately 20 robbers were involved in the DMI raid.

He says they broke into hostels and made off with five laptop computers, cellphones, and cash totalling K28,000 belonging to the students.

Kwinyani adds that they collaborated with Kanengo Police Station to conduct investigations that led to the arrest of the suspects.

Ribson hails from Mnjale Village, Traditional Authority Mkukula in Dowa, while Gomani is from Mapira Village, Traditional Authority Mapira in Mangochi.
