RFA to increase funds for roads improvement

The Road Fund Administration (RFA) plans to allocate additional funding to city councils for the improvement of roads.

Board Chairperson for the RFA,Mathews Chikankheni, made the disclosure in Mangochi while inspecting progress of the newly constructed Soko to CCAP via Mangochi Bus Depot road.

According to the RFA, Zomba and Mzuzu municipal councils will receive K2 billion each while Blantyre and Lilongwe will be given K4 billion each respectively.

Additionally, Mangochi, Kasungu, and Karonga municipal councils are set to receive K1 billion each for their respective projects.

Chikankheni commended the Mangochi Municipal Council for adhering to standards, emphasizing the importance of a robust drainage system for the road’s longevity.

Initially projected to cost about K800 million, the 0.8 Kilometre RFA-funded road’s expenses are expected to rise due to devaluation.
