Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has unveiled Maranatha Academy as the official sponsor for this year’s Zikonda Amayi Macheza, scheduled for October in Lilongwe.
Under this partnership, Maranatha Academy will contribute K50 million to support the event.
During the signing ceremony at MBC Chichiri Broadcasting House, Acting Director General Moses Chiwoni, said the partnership reflects both institution’s dedication to amplifying women’s voices on important social issues.
Chiwoni emphasised that the agreement is grounded in trust, shared values, and mutual commitment, highlighting that empowered women can engage in various developmental activities that benefit their communities and the nation.
He further explained that through the Zokonda Amayi programme, MBC recognises the vital importance of empowering women across all sectors to enable their active participation in national development.
Maranatha Academy Director, Ernest Kaonga, said MBC’s Zokonda Amayi programme has become a key platform for women’s empowerment, which is why the academy continues its support.
Kaonga praised the state broadcaster for providing a stage for women to showcase their talents and develop their skills by sharing ideas and creativity.
He added that the partnership has been ongoing for the past four years, as MBC remains a reliable and far-reaching partner in the country.
Zokonda Amayi Macheza is an annual event organised by MBC through its Zokonda Amayi programme, which encourages women nationwide to connect and exchange ideas via phone calls or text messages on MBC Radio 1.
