Four teams, namely Sunbird, Beach Eagles, Vinthenga and Deep Bay have qualified for the semifinals of the HTD-FAM National Beach Soccer Championship taking place in Mangochi.
This means that Deep Bay will face Beach Eagles while Sunbird Nkopola will meet Vinthenga.
General Secretary for Malawi Beach Soccer Association, Wakisa Mwambetania, says the games have started well and have been very competitive.
“We hope that this tournament will help to select good players for our National Beach Soccer team,” Mwambetania said.
Football Association of Malawi Executive member, Fellister Dossi, said the performance by the teams on the first day has brought a lot of surprises.
HTD Managing Director, Zain Sidik, also said, as a company, they are impressed with the way the tournament has started.
