Flash floods in Nkhotakota

Dwangwa River has flooded and some people have lost their property

Less than 24 hours after the Department of Meteorological Services and Climate Change (MET) warned of more floods in some parts of the country, the floods, which already hit Karonga, have now affected Nkhotakota.

Videos making rounds on social media show people in locations such as Dwangwa and Katimbira in the district left stranded as some houses are submerged in water.

Meanwhile, MET warns that those along the Lakeshore, especially areas such as SengaBay in Salima, should be extra careful as the rains might not recede anytime soon due to Mwera winds on Lake Malawi.
