Former president Dr Joyce Banda has called on families that are receiving relief maize not to sell the commodity.
She made the call at Domasi in Zomba during a maize distribution exercise targeting 600 households.
She said it is a curse for one to sell maize which is meant to support their family.
Banda through, her Joyce Banda Foundation, is working hand in hand with the government to alleviate the suffering of those affected by hunger in many parts of the country.
Meanwhile, Dr Banda has commended Prophet Shepherd Bushiri for his benevolence towards the hunger stricken.
She disclosed that the maize she was distributing this time around had been given to her by Bushiri.
“I’m giving the prophet a hand as he may not be able to distribute everywhere,” Banda said.
