Coca-Cola moves to consolidate Lilongwe plant

Coca-cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) plans to expand its Lilongwe plant by relocating both its plastic bottle line (PET) and glass bottle line (RGB) from Blantyre to the Capital City.

The development follows the expiry of property lease agreement with Castel Malawi Limited for its premises in Makata.

According to an internal communication which MBC Digital has seen, Human Resource Director Naomi Nyirenda said since its establishment in September, 2022, the company had been operating on the rented premises.

The company has however emphasized that closure of the Blantyre plants will not result in job losses.

CCBA employs over 400 people.
