Chiponda calls for collaboration in dealing with trauma injuries

Minister of Health, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, has called for a collaborative approach in dealing with the causes of injuries that lead to trauma.

Chiponda said this on Thursday when she opened a two-day 2024 National Trauma Summit in Lilongwe.

The minister pointed out that Kabaza accidents are the leading cause of emergencies and injuries in the country.

She then called on stakeholders to help curbing the vice, further calling on Parliament to swiftly work on regulating Kabaza business in the country.

National Chairperson for Malawi Coalition for Kabaza Stakeholders and Associations, Moses Mwalabu, said they are working towards harmonising by-laws for all Kabaza operators to help reduce Kabaza-related accidents.

World Trauma Day is commemorated every year on 17 October to raise voices, support trauma victims and educate them to adhere to preventive measures in their lives to avoid any traumatic incidents.
