Maranatha Academy honours top-performing Form 4 students

Maranatha Academy on Sunday recognised its outstanding Form 4 students and dedicated teachers during a graduation ceremony held in Lilongwe.

The event saw top academic achievers receive certificates and cash prizes in recognition of their performance as they prepare to sit the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations.

Among the awardees was Mathematics student Kingsley Dombola, who received K200,000 after being voted outstanding by his fellow students. Mary Njewa was also awarded K200,000 for excelling in Agriculture.

The highest award of the day went to Ruth Kanduku, who received K1.5 million after emerging as the overall best-performing student among both boys and girls from all Maranatha Academy schools in the Central Region.

During the ceremony, Maranatha Academy Managing Director Ernest Kaonga said the institution uses the occasion not only to graduate its Form 4 learners but also to celebrate students who have demonstrated excellence and leadership.

“We do two things. We graduate our Form 4 students and we recognise outstanding learners who have led by example. We also honour teachers who give their all because no student shines alone. Class of 2026, carry this light into your MSCE examinations,” said Kaonga.

He said the awards were intentionally presented before the national examinations to motivate candidates and boost their confidence.

“We awarded the Form 4 students ahead of MSCE to encourage them. We want them to know their hard work has already been recognised before they even enter the examination room,” he said.

Kaonga added that the awards symbolise more than financial rewards.

“These awards are not just cash and certificates. They are a message to every Form 4 student: we believe in you. Go into the MSCE examinations with your heads held high,” added Kaonga.

Teachers were also recognised during the ceremony for their commitment and contribution to the students’ academic success, with school authorities acknowledging the dedication, sacrifice and mentorship they provide throughout the learners’ educational journey.

The graduation ceremony brought together students, parents, teachers and invited guests to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2026 ahead of one of the most important milestones in their academic careers.
