Mw geared to end Cholera by 2030

Government, together with stakeholders and partners, has launched the 2025-2030 Malawi Multi-sectoral Cholera Control Plan (MMCCP) and Oral Cholera Vaccine (OCV) campaign aimed at controlling Cholera in the country by 2030.

Speaking after the launch, Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, said the plan seeks to reduce Cholera annual incidence rate and strengthen proper coordination and implementation in the fight against the disease.

The plan has been launched by the Malawi Government through the Presidential Taskforce on Public Health response emergencies and the ministries of health, water and sanitation in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and other stakeholders.

UNICEF representative to Malawi, Dr Shadrack Omol, commended Malawi leadership’s political will towards ending the disease.

He expressed UNICEF’s commitment through provision of financial, technical and advocacy support in the implementation of the launched Cholera plan in ensuring a Cholera free Malawi by 2030.
