Amazone Group Limited will sponsor a year-long, K10 million football cup dubbed the Tambala Super Cup in collaboration with the Blantyre and Districts Football Association Committee.
The cup will run from August to December this year and will see 40 Blantyre-based teams competing.
Announcing the news in Blantyre, the company’s Managing Director, Moses Kunkuyu, who is also the country’s Information Minister, said Amazone Group regards the sponsorship as a seed for football development in the country.
Southern Region Football Association Chairperson, Raphael Humba, said the cup will help identify new talent as it will involve small clubs not registered in the Southern Region Premier and Division One leagues.
