Lumbadzi Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Mable Msefula, has urged chiefs and community members to help fight mob justice by reporting suspected offenders to police instead of taking the law into their own hands.
She said this on Tuesday during a crime prevention meeting at Dothi Village in Traditional Authority Chitukula, Lilongwe.

Msefula reminded the communities that mob justice is a criminal act and urged them to hand over suspects to police for the law to take its course.
Community Policing Coordinator, Jane Mkangala, encouraged community members to actively participate in crime prevention initiatives.
Mkangala also sensitised them on gender-based and domestic violence, alcohol and drug abuse, suicide prevention, cattle theft and the importance of revamping crime prevention panels.
Group Village Headman Dothi commended police for organising the meeting and pledged to support efforts aimed at combating crime in his area.

The meeting brought together community members from Group Village Headmen Dothim’duka, Kanyendera and Nenenji, who also asked police to establish a unit at Chitukula Headquarters to enhance police visibility and improve crime prevention.
