Illovo Sugar Malawi has handed over a high definition decoder to Limbe Police in Blantyre to assist in video surveillance for crime prevention within the station’s jurisdiction.
The donation is a back up to the CCTV initiative that Limbe Police Station introduced in 2022.
Industry Affairs Manager for Illovo Sugar Malawi, Tawonga Munthali, said the decorder will enhance visibility on the CCTV, thereby providing valuable evidence on investigations.
And Officer In charge for Limbe Police Station, Edwin Mnkhambo, said the K7.1 million equipment will assist in further reducing crime rate, which has gone down by 17 percent since the introduction of the CCTV initiative at Limbe Police Station.
