Matching grants to strengthen value chains

The Ministry of Trade and Industry says it will soon start disbursing matching grants to 100 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs ) to strengthen value chains.

Deputy Director for the Industry in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Silas Sindi, told MBC that under Component 3 of the Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity Project (SATCP), the ministry will embark on a needs assessment to enhance productivity and market opportunities for the private sector.

“We want to stimulate private sector activity along targeted corridors of Malawi and Mozambique by reducing trade costs, time and increasing value chain development,” clarified Sindi.

The Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity Project (SATCP) is a six-year, $150 million World Bank-funded project which will run up to 30 June 2027.
