MP says project will close the digital divide.

Lilongwe City Centre, Alfred Jiya, has hailed the Malawi Communication Regulatory Authority (MACRA) for establishing ICT labs in schools, highlighting the project’s potential to foster innovation and contribute to national development.

Jiya was speaking at Mkomachi Secondary School in Lilongwe during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Connect a School project.

He emphasized that the initiative will provide learners and the surrounding rural community with crucial access to the internet and ICT skills.

MACRA ICT Manager, Gabriel Ali, added that the project aims to enhance knowledge transfer, promote a deeper understanding of ICT, and bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas.

The MACRA Connect a School project plans to construct ICT laboratories and provide free internet access in 75 schools across the country.
