People of Senior Chief Kameme in Chitipa District have applauded the government through Chitipa District Council for rehabilitating Kameme health centre, which they say has improved healthcare services delivery.
Elizabeth Munkhondya of Shumbi 2 village, who came to the health facility with her 8-year-old daughter to seek health services, said the health centre had few rooms and was small, which was difficult for patients to be accommodated.
Kameme Health Centre in-charge, Abraham Mwaya, said working conditions at the health facility were not conducive before the rehabilitation, saying most services were being done in one room.
Director of Planning and Development for Chitipa, Smith Mnenula, said that the government put the welfare of its people at heart, hence the rehabilitation of two health centres, which were in a dilapidated state.
Mnenula said the government, through the Chitipa District Council, are doing these developments to reduce maternal deaths and reduce distance to access quality health care services.
Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD), District Development Fund (DDF), Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and Health Centre Rehabilitation Fund are some of the funding windows that assisted Chitipa District Council to construct health sector projects.
