Vice Chairperson of the Hindu Community in Malawi, Jayantilal Babulal Kotecha, says the visit of Indian Droupadi Murmu to their Radha Krishna Mandir temple in Lilongwe signifies government’s tolerance in the promotion of diverse religious activities in Malawi.
Kotecha said the indian President’s visit has cemented diplomatic ties between Malawi and India, which date back to the 1960s.
While in the temple, President Murmu performed Aarti, which is a fundamental part of Hindu worship and cultural practice in India.
The visiting President, who has been in the country for a three-day official visit, toured the temple before leaving for Salima to see Lake Malawi.
She is expected to leave Malawi later in the afternoon.
