President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has pardoned 49 prisoners as one way of showing clemency during the Easter season.
The Ministry of Homeland Security has, in a statement, said that those pardoned include the ones who have served half of their sentences, the chronically-ill, the elderly and female convicts who were accompanied by their children to prison.
The President has also reduced the sentences of all other prisoners by six months.
