The Ministry of Gender says child labour and corruption deprive children of their right to education.
Speaking at the closure of the Children’s Parliament in Ntchisi, Deputy Director of Administration Esther Ng’ong’ola expressed concern over the tendency of forcing children into labour despite their desire to continue their education.
Ng’ong’ola also condemned officials who allegedly mismanage educational bursaries, leaving underprivileged children vulnerable.
She stressed that the government will take action against those obstructing children’s access to education.
The Children’s Parliament addressed issues such as child labour, access to education, health and corruption, with child MPs speaking out on the challenges they face while pursuing their education.
