DFIC engages media managers on digital financial services

Media managers have converged in Blantyre where they are getting insights on digital financial services in respect of how media houses can effectively cover issues on the subject, with a focus on marginalized groups.

Organised by the Ministry of Finance’s Support for Digitalisation, Financial Inclusion and Competitiveness (DFIC) and facilitated by AC Consulting, the workshop will also explore how best the project implementers can work together with the media to effectively disseminate awareness messages.

DFIC’s Steve Mgwadira says the Awareness Raising Campaign on Digital Financial Services and Technology Education will involve sharing of concepts and knowledge on the topic.

“We want to deliberately reach out to women, the youth and the disabled….research has shown that women are falling behind in financial literacy and digital services, the youth are tech savvy and they’re essential to this project,” he said.

Andrew Chimpololo of AC Consulting has since emphasized that the initiative offers an opportunity for advertising using radio, television and social media platforms.
