Bushiri Extradition Case: Defence side plays video clips in court

The defence side in the extradition case involving Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary played video clips during the morning session on Friday as cross-examination of the State Witness continues.

The first video clip contains Bushiri’s public statement after he had just arrived in the country in 2020, explaining reasons why he left South Africa.

Bushiri in the clip, among others, explained that he wanted the Malawi government’s intervention so that he can have a fair trial in South Africa on charges against him.

In the other clip, leader of the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO), Abraham Mashishi, during an interview with SABC, is heard saying that they want Bushiri out of South Africa.

Defence lawyer, Annelene Van De Heever, then continued cross-examining the State Witness from South Africa, Sibongire Mnzinyathi, in regards to what is contained in the video clips.
