Officer In-Charge for Balaka Police Station, Phillip Dinala, has emphasised the need for Police and local chiefs to work hand-in-hand to improve and tighten security in Traditional Authority Phalula in Balaka District.
Dinala said this on Tuesday when he paid a courtesy call on Traditional Authority Phalula to enhance security in the area.
Speaking at the Traditional Authority’s court, he said the visit was aimed at introducing himself to the chief and receiving his blessings before assuming duties as the new Officer In-Charge for Balaka Police Station.
He also pledged to support Community Policing Forums and structures under Phalula Police Unit.
Traditional Authority Phalula hailed Dinala for the visit and promised to work hand in hand with him to make the district crime-free.
However, the chief warned that he will not shield criminals in his area but will report them to the Police so that the law should take its course.
Finally, the Officer In-Charge presented a gift to Traditional Authority Phalula, signifying his dedication to duty.
