Bad Start for Malawi’s Gomes at Paris

Malawian swimmer Filipe Gomes has failed to qualify for the second round of the 50-meter men’s freestyle at the 2024 Paris Olympics, currently underway in France.

Gomes swam in heat 5, lane 8, and managed a time of 24.11 seconds against his seed time of 23.99 seconds.

Meanwhile, other Malawian athletes are anticipated to perform tomorrow.

Short-distance runner, Asimenye Simwaka, will compete in the women’s 100 m-meter race, while another swimmer, Tayamika Chayang’amuno, will compete on Saturday in the 50-meter women’s freestyle.

These three are the country’s only representatives at the global event.
