Ecobank Malawi has tipped secondary school students to start making sound financial decisions as they pave their path towards the future.
Head of Operations at the bank, Grace Mphepo, said this at Stella Maris Secondary School in Blantyre during the Global Money Week (GMW) 13th edition.
Mphepo also encouraged students to have high self-esteem, dream big, push boundaries and remain focused on their education.
Head of Consumer Banking at Ecobank, Sophie Mlumbe, said they have customized products to cater for young people and students aspiring to become financially responsible people.
Stella Maris Headmistress, Sister Evarista Kwapata, said the GMW session aligns with the school’s mission to ensure that students achieve excellence and gain knowledge on life-impacting issues, such as financial management.
GMW provides an opportunity for youths to receive financial education, equipping them with skills for financial management and decision-making. The initiative was recently launched by the Reserve Bank of Malawi.
176 countries worldwide are participating in it including Malawi, Tanzania, South Africa and Uganda.
