The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) says there is a need to scale up digital systems, a development can boost people’s confidence in technology.
Daud Suleman, MACRA Director General, said his organisation has since revised SIM card regulations where handsets are going to be re-registered against a National Identity Card and the number of SIM cards registered to a person will not exceed 10.
Suleman said this in Lilongwe during the official opening of a digital financial service security clinic workshop which aims at addressing security risks to digital finance systems.
The workshop is being done in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has attracted participants from the financial sector.
