No evening kick-off for Masters, Bullets match

Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has maintained that the FDH Bank Premiership match between Masters and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will kick off at 3 PM on Sunday at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, dismissing an earlier request to move the match to 6 PM.

This comes as on 18 October, 2026, in a match between Masters FC and Karonga United, was abandoned in the 76th–78th minute due to a power outage that caused the floodlights to go off, with Masters FC leading 4–1.

“Given the outstanding reports and security concerns surrounding evening fixtures, SULOM has decided to maintain the previously communicated kick-off time of 15:00 hours,” reads part of the statement.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Masters FC, Kelvin Moyo, said they have ‘very fine’ with the response.

Moyo: “We will host them at 15 hours”

“We made a request and what we were expecting is either a yes or no. Actually we have been training planning for 15 hours,” Moyo said.

Bullets CEO Albert Chigoga said they are not surprised with the league’s decision.

Chigoga: “Not surprised”

“The fixture was already confirmed on Sunday for 3 PM kickoff. I think SULOM is acting within its mandate in line with the league’s governing rules and regulations,” Chigoga said.

In the FDH Bank Premiership, Bullets lead the standings with 36 points, while Masters are 5th with 25 points.
