Elishama Ministries International has commended the Malawi Prison Service for promoting freedom of worship and upholding integrity among its officers.
The organisation says these values are important in strengthening accountability and dedication to public service.
Elishama Ministries National Chairperson Amos Banuel, who is also Senior Group Village Head Chapsyinja of Lilongwe, made the remarks during a special prayer service at Maula Prison in Lilongwe.
The service brought together chaplains from the Malawi Prison Service’s Central Region and their counterparts from the Department of Immigration Services.
Mr Banuel also urged spouses of chaplains to support them in their work, saying this would enable them to contribute to promoting integrity and quality service.
Malawi Prison Service Commanding Officer for the Centre, Ian Chadza, thanked Elishama Ministries International for organising the prayer session.
He said the initiative would have a positive impact on the officers’ commitment to their duties.
The service was also attended by senior traditional leaders, including Senior Chief Maganga of Salima.
