SAAPA cautions youths on alcoholism during festive season

Southern Africa Alcohol Policy Alliance (SAAPA) has called on youths in the country to avoid drug and alcohol abuse over the festive season.

SAAPA Board Chairperson, Jefferson Milanzie, who is also Executive Director for Young Achievers for Development (YAD), has told MBC Digital that alcoholism can be detrimental to the youth, who are deemed Malawi’s future leaders.

Milanzie called on those responsible to ensure that during the festive season, young people are protected from drug and alcohol abuse.

He also urged all road users, especially pedestrians, to observe all road signs when crossing roads to avoid unnecessary accidents.

WHO’s recent statistics show that alcohol consumption contributes to 2.6 million deaths each year globally.
