Chakwera meets Jinping

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera says Malawi and the People’s Republic of China should institute a task force to enhance the implementation of agreed projects and initiatives between the two countries.

Dr Chakwera said this as he held bilateral talks with the President of Chi Xi Jinping.

The Malawi leader appreciated his invitation to the Summit of the Forum on China – Africa Cooperation and the bilateral meeting and also applauded Xi Jinping and his government for the road and belt initiative which he said is having a remarkable impact on people’s lives.

President Xi  Jinping expressed readiness to deepen relations between Malawi and China and emphasised the need to elevate their relations into a strategic partnership.

He also commended President Chakwera’s efforts in bringing development to the people of Malawi and hoped that the FOCAC summit would deepen these relations.
