Joggers raise K10 million for Matekenya Health Center’s Solar Power

Joggers on the Move Marathon has successfully raised K10 million for the installation of solar power at Matekenya Health Center in Dowa, confirmed Publicity Secretary for the joggers, Joab Chakhaza.

Chakhaza expressed contentment with the turnout and the massive support from individuals and corporate companies toward the good cause.

Nursing Officer at Matekenya Health Center, Taulo Moyo, described the achievement as a ‘big blessing’ and a relief to the community, which has been operating without electricity, negatively impacting children and expectant women.

However, Moyo also appealed for more support from other organisations to address other shortfalls the facility is facing.

During the marathon, Salima Sugar Company donated K3 million towards the project.

The fun run was graced by Lilongwe City Mayor Esther Sagawa.
