Water destroys property in a shop constructed on main pipe

A shop owner at Jumbe in Blantyre’s Machinjiri township is counting losses after a pipe burst beneath the building housing the shop, destroying property worth over K2 million.

When MBC Digital arrived at the scene, we found Blantyre Water Board employees attempting to stop the gashing water from causing more damage to the shop and the nearby hawkers.

Owner of the shop, Guest Tambala, who sells motorcycle spare parts, said some of the damaged items include cellphones, motorcycle engines, crankshafts, among others.
