Key stakeholders are reviewing the Last Mile Infrastructure Pre-Feasibility Report for the Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity Project (SATCP) in Dowa.
The meeting, chaired by SATCP Project Manager Hastings Ngoma, includes representatives from district councils, private sector stakeholders, and senior officials from the Ministries of Transport and Trade.
The SATCP, funded by the World Bank, aims to improve regional trade and productivity by strengthening value chains in Malawi and Mozambique.
The major components of the project focuses on identifying and developing infrastructure to support key value chains along the Beira and Nacala corridor districts.
Ngoma stressed the importance of the project, stating that it will reduce the cost of trade in the country.
“Our goal is to select and develop around four or five key projects that will make the most impact.” said Ngoma.
Among the 11 districts set to benefit are Lilongwe, Mchinji, Blantyre, and Zomba.
