PRISAM commits to champion girl-child education

The Private Schools Association of Malawi (PRISAM) says it is committed to advancing girl-child education in Malawi.

The commitment was emphasised by PRISAM President Ernest Kaonga during Zodiak Broadcasting Station’s Annual Best Girl Child Award Ceremony, which took place at Marymount Girls Catholic Secondary School in Mzuzu on Friday.

Speaking at the event, Kaonga stressed the importance of empowering young girls through education and announced that five top-performing female students would share  a K3.5 million award courtesy of PRISAM. He further promised to increase the award amount next year.

“We believe that promoting girl-child education is crucial, and this award is just the beginning,” said  Kaonga.

“Our aim is to continue supporting initiatives that encourage educational excellence and inspire students to achieve their best.” He added.

At the ceremony, the top five female students in the 2024 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination were honoured. The awardees included Bahat Kazembe from Providence Girls Secondary School, Gertrude Chiotha from Lilongwe Girls Secondary School, Hellen Thombozi from Maranatha Girls Academy, Lindiwe Kachingwe and Bridget Khalika Banda from Marymount Girls Catholic Secondary School. These students were celebrated for their exceptional academic achievements and commitment to their studies.
