Sendeza Calls for empowerment of marginalised groups in 2025 election

A K7 billion project aimed at enhancing the inclusion of marginalised groups in political and decision-making structures, has been launched.

Speaking at the launch in Mulanje, Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Jean Sendeza said there is a need for more collaboration fromstakeholders  to empower the marginalised,  ensuring their full participation in the electoral process from the grassroots level.

The project, funded by the European Union and implemented by Oxfam and Women’s Legal Resources Centre (Wolrec), seeks to promote inclusive political leadership and prevent violence against women in elections.

Political parties signed commitments to these goals at the launch.

The project is expected to run for three years and four months and will be implemented in Rumphi, Mzimba, Salima, Dedza, Machinga, Mulanje, and Nsanje districts.
